World Mental Health Day 2017

Today is World Mental Health Day. I’ve spent many years struggling with my own mental health and the most important thing I’ve learned is that it’s okay not to be okay sometimes. No matter how cliché those words might sometimes sound, they’re the first step toward moving forward.

The one constant in my happiness has always been music and that’s why I decided to launch Flowershop; there’s so much art in the world that has helped me over the years and I want to share it with you. We truly love and stand behind every artist we cover.

So, how do flowershop.fm and mental health intertwine? I plan on discussing mental health in the music industry on a larger scale as we continue to build flowershop.fm from the ground up. The loss of musicians due to suicide this year has been devastating. The impact that Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington and Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell deaths left on the world is unmistakable. Talking openly about mental health has been treated like a foreign concept in the past, but it doesn’t have to be. Nobody is alone in their struggle. Our email is always open for messages — we strive to bridge the gap between our favorite artists and their biggest fans to create a genuine connection with every person that we reach.

Below is a Spotify playlist featuring some songs that have pushed me through dark times that I would like to share with you.
